WOMEN WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE

WOMEN WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE
Cross-curricular focus: Social History
Here are the stories of three unique women who made a difference to our lives today. Read about Gertrude Bell, mountaineer, archeologist and British spy, who constructed the borders of modern-day Iraq. Imagine the dark, lonely world of Hellen Keller, deaf, dumb and blind, who fought for the rights of the disabled, despite her own hardships. And Rosa Parks, whose refusal to give up her seat in the coloured section of an Alabama bus to a white passenger was a catalyst for the modern Civil Rights Movement. These were amazing and brave women - all pioneers of their time.
