This true story follows the strange and tragic life of John Joseph Merrick, also known as the 'Elephant Man'. Deformed and abused, Merrick joined the freak show to survive. But when "human curiosities" became illegal, he had no way of supporting himself. Merrick found his way to the London Hospital, where a courageous doctor helped him, treated him with kindness and respect and transformed him into a gentleman.
